When renting housing it’s essential to know how to act if accidents occur. Whether it’s property damage, theft, or personal injury, it’s critical for both tenants and us as the landlord to manage the situation properly. In this guide, we explain what to do in different scenarios and how our insurance coverage ensures you feel secure.
Property Damage – What Should You Do?
Accidents happen, and damage to the property or its interior may occur. This could include anything from scratches on the walls to broken furniture.
Steps to Take:
- Contact Us - Inform us as soon as possible about the damage. We will handle repairs and address the issue.
- Responsibility for Damages - Tenants are responsible for any damage they cause, such as mishandling furniture or equipment. The insurance covers several damages, and then you are only responsible for the deductible. If the damage wasn’t caused by carelessness, we’ll take care of it.
Break-ins or Vandalism – What Then?
Break-ins and vandalism are rare but can still occur, and they are understandably unpleasant experiences. Should such an incident happen, we are here to assist you.
Steps to Follow in Case of a Break-in:
File a Police Report - Your first step is to contact the police. This is essential for processing insurance claims and increases the chances of identifying those responsible. Alternatively, you can contact us directly, and we will assist you in filing the police report.
Contact Us - If you have not done so already, reach out to our customer service team or your designated contact person. We will guide you through the next steps, including organizing repairs and handling insurance matters.
