About Lund
Lund is a city close to Malmö in Skåne, Sweden. They are both popular places to live in. Lund is famous for it’s University.
Skåne in Sweden and Själland (the biggest island in Denmark) together form the “Öresund region“. Since the bridge between Malmö in Sweden and Copenhagen in Denmark opened in 2000, the region has been booming. It is a hot spot for infrastructure projects, research and development at the science facilities in Lund and other cultural and business related initiatives.
In Lund, a new district is currently being developed near the city center. The area that is today called Öresundsvägen’s area of operation will be gradually transformed into a varied district. Here, it is planned for different types of housing, and businesses, winding parks and a completely new main street where bicycles, pedestrians and public transport are prioritized. Parks and green areas provide space for play, socializing and relaxation and contribute to biodiversity.
The project wants the area’s industrial history of the area to live on, selected cultural environments to be preserved and the establishment of new, small-scale activities to be stimulated. The idea is that the district will develop in a sustainable direction. Therefore, goals have been set that will include everything from climate-smart transport and the schools’ outdoor environments via stormwater management and outdoor lighting for waste management and recycling.
